   “ So many times, out there,  I’ve watched a HAPPY PAIR       of lovers walking in the night--   They had a kind of GLOW around them...     It almost looked like HEAVEN’S LIGHT-- “ 

  God, does it have to be so cold?  Is there any reason for the fogging breath & the gooseflesh   that rises along bare arms  & settles a chill to the very core of her spine?   [ Maybe the gods hate her ]  Maybe that’s why her fire is all smoke  & no heat &---  Numb fingers rub desperately at cold arms   as the child of exploration & whimsy settles herself to her place   next to the fire,   an old song of foreign tongue soft upon her lips.  [ & then-- a sound. ]  She’s not sure it was real, at first,  but she turns, regardless,   fear glazing starry eyes  & settling along soft features.    “ Hello ? “  She’s uneasy, hesitant at first,  & slow to utter the words.  But then another moment passes,     & her speech finds her lips once more.     “ Hello-- ? Is... is anyone there? “ 

      “So you fell from outer space? Been there,  done that. It’s really not such a big deal.”

“So…theoretically, could you control the iron running through one’s blood stream? Or would the sample be too small to have a –sense of?”

      “--What are you?” All manners and even logical thought processes have fled him in lieu of confusion and --awe. 

      “If you play anything by the self proclaimed “Music Man”,  I will personally throw you out of this pub.”

      “Any ideas?”

      “I don’t know what a mutt is,             but I do know that I’m not one of them!”
